Genes Reunited is a popular family research website, allowing you to create a family tree and access thousands of records from times gone by. Currently, a free two-week trial is available where you can test-drive all the features free of charge.
The trial includes access to the Platinum subscription – the most feature-rich package. This includes Census records from England, Wales and Scotland; Births, Marriages & Death records; plus the ability to view other members’ trees (depending on the privacy options set).
The site is easy to use and provides an interactive and fun Family Tree Builder, plus easy to use search tools to locate ancestors. The community boards can also be very useful when attempting to track down particular records, or gain advice from seasoned searchers.
Over 515 million records can be accessed at Genes Reunited and the site is fairly comprehensive in what it offers. Other available records include Land & Surveys, Armed Forces & Conflict, Travel & Migration, and Newspapers/Directories.
PLEASE NOTE: cancel within the trial period by heading to “My Account” to avoid being placed on a subscription. Having said that, if you do decide to continue with the service, you may select an appropriate package by contacting the Genes Reunited site directly. A credit card is required for the trial, although no charge will be made if you cancel as detailed above. Specialist sites are available for Australia, New Zealand and South Africa.
