If you currently wear glasses and want to try contact lenses, Specsavers is a good place to start. At the UK’s leading high-street optician, you can claim a free contact lens trial, subject to an eye examination.
The process works as follows: visit your local Specsavers outlet or telephone to make an appointment for a contact lens assessment. The optician will then undertake a series of tests to see if your eyes are suitable for contacts. After the initial examination has been done, you will be asked a number of questions, such as how often you intend to use lenses, the amount of time they will be worn, and any relevant medical history. Your answers will help the optician to determine which type of lenses to recommend.
The free trial usually begins once you can demonstrate your ability to confidently insert and remove the lenses. Note: this can take a bit of time getting used to, but after a some practice, it can quickly become second nature. You will be issued with a small number of free contact lenses to take away and try at your leisure. This pack will consist of either 5 pairs of daily disposables or 1 pair of monthly lenses.
Various plans are available and after your trial has ended and subject to everything being in order, you may order lenses by direct debit or on a ‘pay as you go’ basis. The payment plan you select will depend on how frequent you intend to use contacts and the type of lenses recommended. Some examination fees may be required if you do not have a valid prescription.
Prices for contact lenses begin at £5/month for monthly lenses and £16/month for thirty pairs of daily disposables. If you encounter any issues with your recommended brand of contacts, the optician is able to suggest other suitable lenses to try.
